Annual Rude Awakening Presentation

Volunteers from all five squads will be on hand this year at the annual Rude Awakening demonstration sponsored by the Middletown Township Police Department. The program is held at the Township's high schools before the junior and senior prom days and demonstrates to students just how serious driving while under the influence of alcohol or narcotics can be. As the students look on, the volunteers use apparatus such as the "jaws of life" to extricate live actors from a mock motor vehicle accident. In addition to the car accident demonstration put on by the squads, the police department sponsors many various speakers as well as a "Fatal Vision" drunk driving course that demonstrates how difficult and dangerous drunk driving can be. County-Wide Disaster Drill

The five squads from Middletown, along with a multitude of other squads and public safety agencies from around the county, recently participated in a disaster drill at Brookdale Community College. The drill was hosted by Monmouth County Emergency Management and included everybody from civilian volunteers (paying the "victims") straight through the to the hospitals. The drill was a simulated explosion of a "dirty bomb" in which there were over 50 severely "injured" victims that were also contaminated with radioactive material. The "victims" were treated accordingly by responders and transported to area hospitals. For pictures, click here.

Donation of CPR Manikins to the 5-Squad Association

The National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation and the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers recently donated 3 CPR manikins (adult, child, & baby) to the Township of Middletown EMS in remembrance of those lost in the tragic September 11th incident.
